Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking an experienced Backlog Billable Works Manager to work alongside the Backlog Programme Lead, overseeing the planning, delivery and close‑out of billable remedial and reactive works across a large government estate.
Job Overview
This role plays a key part in the successful delivery of backlog and business‑as‑usual (BAU) billable works, acting as a bridge between facilities management activity and project / programme delivery. The postholder will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors responsible for producing accurate and timely quotations for billable works up to £300k, with the majority of projects valued under £50k.
Working in a client‑facing capacity, the Backlog Billable Works Manager will collaborate closely with Project Managers, technical specialists and FM teams to ensure works are planned, delivered and closed out in line with programme, budget and governance requirements.
The role operates on a hybrid basis, with 2-3 days per week spent visiting sites or working from an office location.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Backlog Programme Lead in the delivery of backlog and BAU billable works.
- Manage and oversee a team of Quantity Surveyors producing accurate quotations for billable works up to £300k.
- Coordinate with Project Managers to ensure effective delivery, completion and close‑out of small works projects.
- Act as a key point of contact for client meetings, updates and expectation management.
- Oversee subcontractor management, performance and compliance.
- Ensure works are delivered in line with agreed programme, budget and governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Technical, Asset Management, HSEQ, CDM, Projects and FM teams.
- Support planning, prioritisation and coordination across multiple programmes and workstreams.
Person Specification
- Proven experience delivering small works and billable projects up to £300k.
- Strong background in small works, lifecycle projects, asset management and reactive works.
- Experience within project management and/or the built environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong contractor and subcontractor management experience.
- Strategic and analytical approach with strong problem‑solving skills.
- UK driving licence required due to regular site travel.
Qualifications (Desirable):
- Degree in Project / Programme Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Professional accreditation via RICS, CIOB or equivalent.
